ARS and Conway Participate in Alpha Omega Garden Party
ARS volunteered at Alpha Omega Veterans Services. On May 18th, Conway Services, a network provider for ARS, joined corporate ARS employees at the Alpha Omega’s Court Avenue location. There, they tilled and planted an 18 by 8 foot plot and planted donated vegetables and herbs. Additionally, the volunteers spruced up pre-established vegetable boxes as well as donated approximately 40 homemade casseroles to the facility.
Alpha Omega Veterans Services is a nonprofit charitable organization that helps homeless and disabled military veterans reintegrate into society by providing them with housing and other essential supportive services.
“I am elated that we have strong support from ARS. It is tremendously impactful to our clients at Alpha Omega to see people in our community make an effort to spend time with them and help them with various projects,” says Cordell Walker, Executive Director at Alpha Omega Veterans Services. “We use gardening at two of our facilities as part of alternative therapy, so donating time and resources in this way is invaluable to us.”
The ARS volunteers worked in shifts from the morning through the afternoon, and the work included tilling, planting, fertilizing and watering. Furthermore, ARS provided lunch for the facility, where ARS and Conway employees spent time fellowshipping with the veteran clients at Alpha Omega. Lastly, the ARS group donated a set of “corn hole” boards and bags to the facility.
“It is a privilege to be able to serve those who have selflessly served our country,” says Chris Mellon, SVP and Chief Marketing Officer at ARS. “We’re proud of our employees who volunteered and gave back to our veterans in such a meaningful way. We hope the garden brings joy and nourishment to residents at AOVS for a very long time.”
