Bob Hamilton Plumbing Donates Furnace to a Local Non-Profit in Need
Overland Park, KS – February 19, 2020 - Bob Hamilton Plumbing, Heating, AC, Rooter, and Electrical through the ARS Cares program - a giveaway that assists community members by providing an HVAC system and installation donation – provided a furnace to Project 58 Ministries.
Project 58 Ministries is located in Independence, MO, and is a non-profit organization committed to bettering the welfare of all citizens in the community, especially the poor and homeless. Project 58 Ministries recently purchased a home in Independence that will be used as a temporary shelter for displaced or homeless teens within the Independence School District. Each night, at least 100 high school students are displaced, considered homeless, staying with relatives, friends, in a motel, or a homeless shelter with their parents or guardians. Of those 100, some 20 to 25 have no place to stay, so they end up sleeping in their car, a storeroom at work, or, surprisingly, on the streets. This house will be open to those students through a referral of the school’s FSL or other agencies, including the police department and Drumm Farm Home for Kids.
The house, respectfully called the Gilmore House (named after James and Laila Gilmore for their love and dedication to generations of children and teens in need), was in great need of remodeling and updating new furnace. Bob Hamilton Plumbing was more than willing to step up and donate and install a brand new furnace. “Our community is very important to us, and we are thrilled to be able to give back to such a great cause,” said Kurtis Threlkeld, HVAC sales & install manager.
The Gilmore House will, at any given time, sleep 12 with emergency cots available to sleep up to 25. This is a short term program as students are in transition, at odds with their parents, or awaiting another program opportunity to become available. It will be a safe, secure, and stable environment for these students to call home as we provide care, meals, transportation, educational support, counseling and therapy, and spiritual guidance.
