Dandy’s Favorite Destinations for Winter Break
Want to get away for fall or winter break? Looking for some ideas? Check out my favorite places to go as the weather starts to cool down across the country.
Looking for a Kid-Friendly Destination?
Orlando is perfect for kids of all ages. If you have young children, Disney World will really suit them. Not only do they get the whole Disney experience, but most of the rides and attractions are very kid-friendly. My favorite park is Animal Kingdom because it has a good mixture of thrill rides and shows. The Kilimanjaro Safari will make you think you’re in Africa, and not Central Florida.
If you have older children or teenagers, Universal Studios may be more appropriate. Universal has a lot more thrill rides and has the Islands of Adventure addition. If you’re a Harry Potter fan, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is THE place to be. Just recently they’ve expanded with the Diagon Alley addition. Book your tickets and accommodations early because Orlando’s theme parks get really busy during the winter!
Looking for a Romantic Getaway?
If you need a romantic getaway for two, a cruise through the Bahamas maybe just what you need! Remember, it’s not just about the destination; the journey is just as important. Check out the major cruise liners and see what each has to offer while you’re actually on the ship. Do you prefer to have an agenda full of activities? Or would your rather have a super-relaxing time? Also, depending on where you live, you can either fly into Miami, New Orleans, or various cities on the East Coast, and you can depart to the Bahamas from there. Check out Cruise Critic to read reviews on various cruise liners.
Looking for an Affordable Beach Trip?
Whether you’re taking the whole family or not, the Gulf Coast of Alabama is an affordable beach destination. Even during the peak season, this part of the Gulf Coast tends to be a less crowded than options like Miami, Key West, or Destin, for example. If you book early, you’ll be able to find some affordable options. I prefer to stay in a condo or rent a house, instead of staying in hotel, because I enjoy the added amenities of having a grill, a private hot tub, and a well-stocked kitchen. If you’re the adventurous type like me, book a parasailing trip or deep-sea fishing expedition. Otherwise, just relax on the beach and sink your feet into the white, powdery sand.
To check out these and other places that I’ve been to this past year, go to my Facebook album.
And before you leave for vacation, be sure to prepare your home for your departure. Should any heating, air conditioning, or plumbing issues arise, keep us on speed dial at 1-800-277-9400, or schedule an appointment online!
