YMCA 2014 Corporate Games
The American Residential Services corporate office has sponsored and participated in the YMCA Corporate Games for the second year in a row. The YMCA of Memphis holds this event once a year to raise money for different community programs and it is also a team event that combines healthy living and a little healthy competition among local organizations. In 2014, the programs benefiting from this event are Y-READ (summer reading program), Y-CAP (community program for at-risk youth), and the Summer Camp and Afterschool Scholarship programs.
The games were held the week of September 15th. There were 39 companies with 45 teams and over 1800 participants competing in the following events: kickball, cornhole, basketball, indoor triathlon, dodgeball, volleyball, tug-of-war, sack race, three-legged race, water balloon toss, horseshoes and hopperball relay race.
On Monday, several co-workers, family members, and friends cheered on Team ARS during kickball, where ARS won one out of three games. On Tuesday, ARS had two stellar team members who led us through three grueling games of cornhole. Fast forward to Saturday, and the ARS dodge ball and volleyball teams fought a good fight but ended up losing. On Sunday, which was Field Day, it was incredibly hot, but that didn’t keep Team ARS down! From horseshoes and water balloon toss to hopperball and the three-legged race, fun was had by all!
Team ARS may not have placed in any of the events, but they won 1st Place for “Team Spirit” for the second year in a row! Thank you to all of our participants and volunteers. We look forward to the 2015 games!
